5 Stephen King Books Everyone Needs to Read

Think you can handle the King? Here's where you need to start.

Stephen King is one of those authors that you see everywhere, and have no doubt thought about at least giving a chance. I'm here to help guide you along the road with my top five Stephen King picks.

1. Misery

Like horror but not so keen on paranormal aspects? Misery is the place to start. Full of gore and suspense you'll never look at celebrity culture in the same way.

2. Shining

Not just a classic but a must read, The Shining will stay with you long after you put it down, haunting you whenever you need to stay in a hotel.

3. Full Dark No Stars Special Sales

A fan of short stories? King has you covered with Full Dark, No Stars. Not for the faint of heart, as it shies away from nothing.

4. Mr Mercedes

Or perhaps crime is more up your alley. Mr Mercedes is a thriller with a classic King twist. Still horrific but it won't give you too many nightmares.

5. Gerald's Game

A truly gory tale of an intimate moment gone horribly, horribly wrong. There's blood, there's mystery, there might even be ghosts. But you'll have to read it yourself to find out.
