A list of underrated books that are among my favorites of all time
It is impossible to have 1 favorite book. I thought I ought to be able to make a list of 10 favorites, but even this was difficult. I had 15 books in mind, but I decided to go with the 10 that had the least reviews on Goodreads, so maybe you'll find some books that you haven't heard of yet!
Don't read this list as in 1 is the best and 10 the least, these books are equally good in their own way! And if you'd like to know what I'm reading now, or find more underrated gems, check out my blog:
1. How to Find Love in a Book Shop
This is a great book about a BOOKSHOP, what more do you want?! I truly felt involved in this book. It was a nice feel-good-story, with a likable character for everyone.
I have lot's of favourites. That's the trouble with books. You can never choose your favorite. It changes depending on your mood.
I heard such good things about this book that I bought it without knowing what it was about. I was kinda scared that I would hate it, because it's mostly Sci-Fi. Turns out, I LOVED this book. It's so unique, you actually read a log-file from a spaceship and it's awesome!!
You deserve every star in the galaxy laid out at your feet and a thousand diamonds in your hair. You deserve someone who'll run with you as far and as fast as you want to. Holding your hand, not holding you back.
4. A Monster Calls
One of the most emotional books I've ever read... Gripping, sad and beautiful. You can see the inevitable conclusion coming, and you want to prevent it from happening, but you can't... And it makes you so sad..
You do not write your life with words... You write your life with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do.
5. I Liked My Life
This was a beautiful book about a mother looking after her family from beyond the grave after she jumped off of a building. It's beautifully written, full of love and life lessons, something I did not expect when I read the bookblurb.
Practice love, compassion and forgiveness. Anger is nothing but an anchor that keeps you from moving forward.
6. The Shadow of the Wind
My favorite book since FOREVER. I think I've read it 8 times already. I usually read it on summer vacation and I keep loving the book, the writing style, the characters, the challenging questions that arise while reading. Yes! Beautiful.
Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you.
This was a kind of a slow book for me, since it's written in pretty tricky English, and it's not my native language! I seriously loved the characters and the worldbuilding in this fantasy book. This book is SO good that I felt that it did not need a sequel. The ending was amazing!
Truth didn't mean anything without someone to share it with: you could shout truth into the air forever, and spend your life doing it, if someone didn't come and listen.
8. A Court of Thorns and Roses
I read this book about a year ago and now (a year later) I'm reading it again. I'm totally in love with the characters, worldbuilding, suspense and plot twists in this fantasy series. I read the second book in this series (600 pages) in two days. ADDICTION!
Don't feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy.
9. Beautiful Creatures
This book made me fall in love with fantasy! It's the first one in it's genre I've ever read. This book is amazing, I've read the whole series and it left a hole in my heart when it finished. Will definitely re-read!
Note: Don't watch the movie, it's horrible.
The right thing and the easy thing are never the same.
A beautiful romantic, historical book with a bit of fantasy. I LOVE the main character, Claire. She is a fierce woman that knows what she wants. Her love for James and their adventures are addicting. So glad there are many more books in this series!
Ye are Blood of my Blood, and Bone of my Bone, I give ye my Body, that we Two might be One. I give ye my Spirit, 'til our Life shall be Done.
