I Can't Decide If Barbarella Is Great or Terrible

Verdict strongly correlated with THC levels

I recently re-watched about half of Barbarella. For those of you that haven't seen it, it's basically 1968 Jane Fonda wandering around some truly bizarre indoor sets wearing very little, accompanied by some equally bizarre music.

Captured by children in the Iceland Forests of Wier. Sucks.

As best I can tell, the premise is that Jane Fonda is an astronaut in the far future on a mission to find another astronaut from the far future named Duran Duran. No word on why, or why that's his name.

The acting is objectively awful, and while it seems like the cast might be aware of this, it's far from clear that they are. The dialog is stilted and sounds like it was written by a non-native speaker and many scenes have been dubbed over in part or in full.

Overall, it seems like Barbarella might be the 1960's equivalent of 2009 instant classic Black Dynamite, but it's too weird to know for sure. Either way, it's worth the watch. You can find it on Amazon here:
