Chess Sets To Get You Excited About Chess Again

because you were before, right?

Chess is a great game for deep thinkers and computers alike, but it can be a little intimidating. These dope chess sets will get you excited about the game and also make great gifts for your chess loving pal.

1. Giant chess set

This set is great for people with bad vision and/or long arms. If you have short arms it looks like it might be hard to reach the other side of the table, but that will just make it all the sweeter when you get to ask your opponent to put themselves into checkmate.

2. Lord of the Rings, Deluxe

Duh of course there is a LOTR chess set. Included are Arwen, Aragorn, Gandalf, Galadriel, Boromir, Pippin, Frodo, Sam, Merry, four different Orcs, Orthanc Tower, Cave Troll, Ringwraith, Saruman, Lurtz, and Uruk-Hai. I'm not sure who all of those people/creatures/inanimate objects are, but sounds fun!

3. WTF even is this thing

I'm not even sure this is chess and it looks incredibly confusing, but if you are a player looking to level up, or don't like being constrained to only two dimensions, this is the set for you.

4. Babushka, Babushka, Babushka

Cute! Russian folk inspired design is not to be confused with Babooshka of Kate Bush fame.

5. Dragons

Similar to the LOTR chess set, this set is great for the dual chess and fantasy fan demographic (which I'm assuming is most of the chess fanbase). Fortunately, this set is a bit more neutral -- no fighting over who gets to play Aragorn.

6. The most expensive set on Amazon

I guess it's an antique or something

7. Bling

As the product description reads, "No Game, No Life". We couldn't agree more.
